The European Commission has released its vision for a Digital Decade. The plan sets out an ambitious plan to build Europe’s digital economy over the next ten years. The plan sets out several key goals and initiatives to foster innovation, drive digital transformation, and create new opportunities for businesses and individuals.
One of the critical goals of the Digital Decade is to increase the availability and quality of digital infrastructure and connectivity across Europe. To do this, Europe must invest in new technologies such as 5G networks, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Another critical focus of the Digital Decade is to promote digital skills and education, ensuring that all Europeans have the knowledge and expertise needed to succeed in a rapidly changing digital world, including initiatives to support digital upskilling and reskilling and efforts to encourage greater diversity and inclusivity in the tech industry.
The Digital Decade also aims to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship, support startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing new products and services to drive economic growth and job creation and provide greater access to funding and resources for innovative startups.
The Digital Decade is about building a more resilient and sustainable digital economy that works for everyone. By embracing innovation and digital transformation, Europe can position itself as a global leader in the digital age and invest in the skills, infrastructure, and technologies of the future.
